The GL-CRSP Sustainable Management of Rural Watersheds (SUMAWA) project in Njoro, Kenya, was recently featured in a video produced by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Environment for Development group. While focusing primariliy on the public-private sector linkages allowing for greater innovation and intellectual problem solving on environmental issues in the area, the video also highlights the challenges confronting the River Njoro Watershed, especially the Ogiek people located in the Watersheds uppper catchment, and the success of SUMAWA project interventions such as tree nurseries and the BioSand Filter, successes enabled by the parnterships between US universities and their Kenyan counterparts.
