From the World Bank, June 29, 2006: The global threat of a severe Avian Flu (H5N1) human pandemic could cost the global economy up to 3.1% of world Gross Domestic Product (GDP), or approximately US$ 1.25 trillion, based on a world GDP of $40 trillion, with devastating consequences for developing countries.
