The LEWS/LINKS project is featured in the journal Baobab, a publication sponsored by the ALIN-EA designed to create a forum for Community Development Workers (CDWs) to exchange ideas, information and experiences on development approaches.
From Baobab Journal N. 47: "Livestock owners, especially pastoralists in the developing countries,
have always been at a serious risk of losing their precious animals to natural and man-made disasters. These disasters do not only affect livestock, but also often cause untold personal injury, loss of life and damage to property and the environment. A sustainable response mechanism is a pre-requisite in minimising the effects of these disasters. A people-centred Early Warning System comes in handy as an effective tool for preventing loss of life and reducing the economic and material
impact of disasters."
